Janna  "The Gate Keeper"
Office Manager

A perfect fit from the start, Janna joined Dr. Young's team in 2008 and has witnessed firsthand the exponential growth of the practice. She is the angelic voice you hear when calling the office and the go-to gal for scheduling appointments, insurance questions, billing/payments, and anything else having to do with the ins-&-outs of running the office. Janna considers herself truly blessed to love her job and enjoys being a part of an office with such steady and consistent growth.

Janna was born and raised in good 'ol Orange County and had lived in the same 3 mile radius her entire life! That was until she had met the love of her life, Tyler. They quickly fell in love and were on the fast track to start their lives together. They bought their first home in Long Beach late December 2014, got engaged two months later, married in September 2015, and welcomed their first child, a beautiful baby girl, Perri, in August 2016.  Their 2 pets, "Maizey" a rambunctious pup, and "Jason," Janna's beloved cat, were not totally thrilled, but are tolerating the new addition to the household.

When Janna isn't tending to Baby Perri, she enjoys camping, dancing, live music, Angels games, back yard BBQ's & games, and trying fun & new cuisines.

Shayne "Mighty Mouse"
Front Office

Don't let her height fool you. Shayne is a part Mexican part Irish, Valentines Day baby with a spicy personality. She grew up in the Northern California countryside, where she had horses, rabbits, ducks and a pig named "Farrah." After High School she went to Sacramento City College and received her Registered Dental Assistant license.

She visited Newport Beach in 1999 and fell in love with the city. Six months later, she said goodbye to Northern California for good and decided that Newport Beach was where she needed to be. Six years later, she welcomed her own little whipper snapper named Kyan.

Now in the 6th grade, Kyan keeps mom busy with sports, surfing, dancing, and things like breaking city records for his skills on the Running Team. He is also very busy with acting and modeling jobs. The staff at Dr. Young's absolutely adores this kid and thinks he is some kind of superhero. He literally saves lives!

When Shayne isn't chauffeuring Kyan around town, she enjoys the beach, walking the Back Bay, watching back to back episodes of Girlfriends Guide to Divorce, and trying new restaurants with her girl squad. As the newest addition to our family, Shayne was a great fit from the start - down to earth, friendly, warm, with just the right hint of sarcasm.

Marcela "The Office MacGyver /Handyman"
Dental Assistant

Marcela has been in the dental industry for over 30 years.  Her passion for dentistry started in Guadalajara, Mexico where she completed Dental School and practiced dentistry. After marrying and moving to Southern California, Marcela began dental assisting full time. She has been a dental assistant for 20 years and took the role of dental assistant/office handyman for Dr. Young’s practice in 2005. She has an older son and daughter and is very close with her very large family. A kind and hard working woman, Marcela faithfully commutes to Newport Beach from Los Angeles every day.

When she is not working, or stuck in hours of traffic, she loves to cook, dance, and offer her ancient Mexican anecdotes for any human condition

Chrissy "The Cheerleader"
Dental Hygienist

Chrissy was born and raised on the border of MN and WI. (She will claim either state depending on the conversation). Her family still lives on a hill overlooking the St. Louis River on one side and a ski hill to the other. Chrissy's passion for dentistry began after going through orthodontics herself. After that, smiles were the first thing she noticed about a person. Other girls checked out guys' good looks and Chrissy would state... "he had nice teeth".

After completing her degree at Lake Superior College in Duluth, MN she gained valuable knowledge working at an office that specialized in periodontics. She then moved to Switzerland to work and broaden her experience. Chrissy took advantage of that time to travel Europe, and meet her future husband. In 2004 they moved to the United States and have lived in Southern California ever since. Their daughter Shyla was born in 2013, a true California girl with blonde hair and blue eyes!

In her free time, Chrissy leads an active lifestyle. Growing up surrounded by lots of land and lakes steered her towards running, hiking and mountaineering.  She is also active in book club and loves yoga. She is known in the office as being "granola" and spends many hours resarching about how diet and lifestyle effect our teeth and gums. She can talk about teeth and diet all day....so be careful what questions you ask. In 2008, Chrissy joined the practice and has been the office chearleader ever since. (And yes, she was one in high school).

Fariba "The Child  Whisperer"
Dental Hygienist

The one with the name no one can remember... Fariba is a half-Persian half-German laid back girl with a genuine love for making everyone feel special and important. And as her nickname states, she has a natural ability to connect with kids. If you think you have a child who would NEVER sit in the dental chair, trust us when we say Fariba will have them asking you to come visit every week!

She’s the one in the corner room with the temperature usually set to a cool 84 degrees. (She’s still defrosting after all those years at Michigan State University).

She’s also the calm, quiet one who married her high school sweetheart and ended up birthing two of the feistiest boys on the planet, currently aged 7 and 5. When she isn’t playing referee with her boys, she loves to dance, organize, play outdoor sports, cook, volunteer, or take a class on just about anything. She is currently enrolled in Spanish at IVC for fun.

While her allegiance will always be to the Spartans (especially during basketball season), she earned her dental hygiene degree from U.S.C. And even though she went to his rival school, Dr. Young added Fariba to his practice in 2010, and they have made a great team ever since.

Kristin "The Hippie"
Dental Hygienist

A girl who appreciates the simple life, Kristin was raised on a dairy farm that her Great-grandparents built after emigrating from Netherlands post World War II. After graduating high school, she earned her Bachelors in Dental Hygiene from Loma Linda University. She firmly believes in their motto to "make man whole;" to treat the whole person. To this day, she continues to follow a holistic approach and is always up to date on the latest research related to "whole body health." She'll be the hygienist recommending coconut oil pulling or charcoal toothpaste!

Kristin met her husband, Brian, after moving to Newport Beach. With both having a passion for travel, they naturally opted for a destination wedding in Los Cabos (that friends still talk about today). They have two young boys named Hudson and Grayson and have recently undertaken one of their biggest challenges yet: building their forever home.

When she isn't watching marathons of Fixer Upper on HGTV, Kristin loves to garden with her two little munchkins, go to the beach, read, and experiment with new Pinterest recipes (spending more money at Whole Foods than what Brian would like). She also likes to bake, paddle board, travel to new destinations, hike, decorate her home, and go on fancy dates with Brian.

Misty "The Professional"
Dental Hygienist

Meet our newest family member! Misty was born in Texas and raised in California. She is the oldest of 4 girls who each grew up playing piano, performing in dance recitals and 4th of July Parades as well as barrel racing with her beloved childhood horse. She grew up in a small town called Acton (just North of Valencia, Ca) on 5 acres of land with 36 animals; including 5 horses, several dogs, cats, bunnies, goats, chickens and a pig.

Misty now lives in Huntington Beach with her husband “Steve”, dog “Chika”, tortoise “Lloyd,” and a few fish.

When Misty is not working you can find her paddle boarding with her pup, hosting themed parties, being crafty, traveling with her hubs or relaxing on the couch with the occasional dose of junk tv.

Mackenzie "The Sweetheart"
Dental Hygienist

Did you know that Temecula means “place of the sun”? So of course it makes sense that our little ray of sunshine would be born and raised in Temecula, CA. As the only sister to THREE brothers, Mackenzie has always known how to use her charm, wit, and toughness to hang with the boys. She swam competitively in high school and could probably still hold 10 lb. weights while treading water for 10 minutes (an inside joke you should ask her about).

Since childhood, Mackenzie loved getting her teeth cleaned. Therefore, the calling to dental hygiene as a career came very early and very naturally. After graduating from Pasadena City College, Mackenzie married Billy, who also happens to be her brother’s best friend. They have since added an adorable little boy and baby girl to their brood.

In her free time, Mackenzie loves gardening, baking, going to the beach, spending time with her church family, traveling, and trying new foods. Billy loves to grill and she loves to eat, so they are truly a match made in heaven.

Joining the practice during the year like no other, we were truly blessed that this little ray of sunshine found us. And it will take you all but one minute of being in her chair for you to understand how she got her nickname.

Lindsey "The Sub"
Dental Hygienist

As the daughter of a Dentist, Lindsey was destined to become a Dental Hygienist. She grew up in Tahoe City, a small mountain town in Northern California. When she wasn’t hanging out at the Dentist’s office, she was busy waterskiing, skiing, and enjoying the mountain life.

Fast forward to the first day of college at U.C. Berkeley were she met her future husband, Brian. After graduating college, Lindsey and Brian decided to stay and continue their education at UCSF; she earning her dental hygiene degree and he entering the long road through medical school.

After their huge wedding in Lake Tahoe, these California kids moved to the Windy City so Brian could complete his ER residency while Lindsey became a faculty member for the Dental Hygiene program at the University of Illinois, Chicago. Not long after that, they hurried back to sunny California.

These avid Cal football fans have two female “Bears” of their own, ages 8 and 6. You can usually find Lindsey and her family at the beach, sailing, trying new restaurants, camping, and planning their next vacation.

As our Substitute Hygienist, she gets to have the flexibility to be both a working mom and a PTA mom! She loves promoting health, meeting interesting people, and has a cheerful spirit that just brightens up our office. If only all the Substitutes in the world were this awesome...
